Imaging-Graphic Design I

This course explores the role of illustrator in a graphic deign field with an understanding of raster (photographic) image and vector illustration as it refers to traditional and digital environment. Throughout the semester, we will examine and evaluate the relationship between verbal and visual communication while focusing on fundamentals of design. With careful orchestration of line, shape, color, texture and pattern - we will study the tools and processes that lead to dynamic image design. Also, this course assists students to develop coherent graphic statements to illustrate problems generated by narrative art (sequential storytelling). Emphasis will be on developing an individual visual language to be utilized in the illustration process. Projects may include approaches to illustrations appearing in books, magazines, digital media and various new media.
