Adobe After Effects Practice 7 (Week 11)

Updated: Dec 7, 2021

On Wednesday, October 27, 2021 we practiced making an air traffic control video for planes. It illustrates a radar going around in a circle and a plane flying across the screen but the plane only appears when the radar detects it. First we had to import our images that were made in photoshop. When we imported those images we had to adjust the settings so that an individual layer would be made. For example, our plane.psd image needed two layers to be displayed on the composition. We did this by selecting the "Keep Merge Layer Styles in Footage" checked and selected layer 1 first and then repeated that same step and selected layer 2. We also reviewed setting durations, applying the appropriate scale, rotation and position settings. Along with, applying a rectangle in front of the airplane because of a line that was not needed by using the rectangle tool then used the mask setting and checked off the inverted option. For this assignment we also used a tint by going to the effect tab, selecting the color correction option and then selecting the tint option. We applied the required RGB settings and made a new solid layer with a specific width and height and changed each layer mode setting to allow for the required layers to join together through the add option. Other settings that we changed was the mask feather and Trikmat after using the pen tool to draw a triangle from the center point to the outside of the videos safe space so that the radars shape can be made and work in a way that allows the radar to blink in a circular motion and show the plane only when it highlights the plane.
